Tripp Lite Meets Customer Demand for USB‑C™ Cables, Adapters, Hubs and Docking Stations
Consumer Choices Multiply as USB‑C Market Grows at Sizzling 70% Pace
Chicago, IL (May 21, 2019)—Tripp Lite, a world-leading manufacturer of IT and connectivity solutions, has kept pace with the growing USB‑C market and provided consumers with more cables, adapters, hubs and docking stations for devices with USB Type-C™ ports. Tripp Lite already offers one of the broadest selections of USB‑C solutions, now topping more than 150 different models.
Portable devices such as tablets, laptops and Chromebook™ and MacBook® notebooks often have slim designs that include only USB‑C ports for connecting to peripherals. The new Tripp Lite models give users more options for expanding the potential of the USB‑C or Thunderbolt™ 3 ports on their computers.
According to IHS Markit research, the number of devices equipped with USB‑C will multiply from 300 million in 2016 to five billion in 2021, a growth rate above 70 percent.
“Most new portable devices being sold today have the USB‑C connector,” said David Posner, Tripp Lite Director of Product Marketing, Connectivity. “With the projected market growth rate for USB‑C exceeding 70 percent, consumers and business users will require products to help them get the most out of the technology without having to purchase new peripherals. Among the additions to Tripp Lite’s USB‑C line-up are more cables that support USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) data transfer speeds, cables designed for Power Delivery (PD) charging and cables with right-angle connectors for easier connection in hard-to-reach spaces. Adapters and hubs have different combinations of ports to support a wide variety of monitors and other peripherals. New docking stations include models with a built-in USB‑C cable that can be wrapped around the dock and stored when not in use.
