Found on many of the latest laptop and notebook computers, Thunderbolt 3 ports have a physical USB‑C™ connector, but have greater capabilities than a standard USB‑C port. Thunderbolt 3 technology offers bidirectional data transfer at speeds up to 40 Gbps, which is four times faster than USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) and eight times faster than USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps). USB‑C power delivery is supported up to 100 watts for device charging. Thunderbolt 3 also has the ability to provide 4K video resolutions on dual DisplayPort displays.
